OXSIGHT SMART GLASSES
The Oxsight team have a very simple goal: “We make glasses that can make a real difference to the daily lives of people with conditions that cause peripheral vision loss”. Dr Stephen Hicks from Oxford University approached LUMA for help in creating a wearable pair of his SMART glasses, which use 3D imaging technology to provide an enhanced view of the world to people with varying levels of vision loss. LUMA took all of the constituent parts and combined them into a single pair of glasses with the aid of 3D printing. This led to vastly improved field testing capabilities to help continue development of the glasses.
The conditions the glasses can help include:
- Diabetic Retinopathy.
- Retinitis Pigmentosa.
- Myopic Degeneration.
- Retinopathy of prematurity.
- Other degenerative eye diseases.
“The glasses have also helped people with a visual impairment caused following a stroke, such as homonymous hemianopia”.
